Toenail trick

The toenail tactic is a woodworking technique that will help you save lots of time. Frame a piece by knowing where to start and what angle to place the nail. The trick is to start the nail at an angle higher than 45 degrees, and then angle it down. This is done by placing your toe on the board and visualizing the nail's path. Use your toe to hold the board in place and drive the nail at the right angle.

How To

How can you measure wood accurately?

We use many methods to measure wood. We use a digital caliper (a tool used to measure distances), a laser level (used to make sure your work surface is flat), and a bubble level (used to make sure your work surface is perpendicular).

Two jaws are available on a digital scaler. One can open and the other close. One jaw holds the measured object while the other measures the distance between the two points. The digital calculator is ideal for measuring very small distances, like the thicknesses or wood.

Laser levels use an infrared beam of light to project a line across the ground. The laser emits a red dot on the line. The line can be viewed down to determine if the surface has an even surface. Laser levels are best for checking the accuracy of large surfaces.

Bubble levels look similar to a compass. The center of the device contains a bubble. The device will inform you if the surface is level if the bubble is in the center. Bubble levels are great for checking the accuracy and precision of smaller areas.
